Hollywood's first studio serving independent filmmakers was William Horsley Studios at 6050 Sunset, in the heart of the Gulch and in the center of Hollywood's early maverick community. In the 1960's this was United Recording and I would be inside setting up string section microphones for a Bobby Darin or Sammy Davis Jr. session , or outside with Dean Torrence skateboarding down that sidewalk, and Dean Martin's custom Dual Ghia and Johnny Mathis's XKE would be the cars parked out front.
